Charles (Chuck) D. Tahirali is a senior human resources (HR) consultant and an integral member of the Labour and Employment Group at Samfiru Tumarkin LLP. He works in conjunction with our Labour and Employment lawyers to provide expert human resources advice and services to employers of every size.
Chuck possesses over twenty years of experience providing assistance to human resources management and corporate clientele with respect to labour and employee relations. His areas of knowledge include employee terminations, progressive discipline, performance management, labour and employment standards legislation, collective agreement interpretation and administration, absenteeism, disability and leave management, human rights, harassment and other workplace investigations, pay equity and job evaluation, as well as conducting employee opinion and custom compensation surveys. He also has extensive experience drafting comprehensive workplace policies and employee handbooks or manuals, job offer letters, employment contracts, disciplinary and termination letters and other human resources and employment-related documentation.
Chuck holds a B.A. (Honours) degree in Psychology and a Master of Industrial Relations degree, both obtained from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Prior to joining Samfiru Tumarkin LLP, Chuck worked for over twenty years at the Central Ontario Industrial Relations Institute ("The Institute"), Canada's first labour and employee relations consulting firm, established in 1943. Through a unique arrangement with the Institute, Chuck continues to provide services to Institute members, as well as to a wide range of corporate clientele.
Chuck has written extensively on a variety of HR and employment law issues. He has been quoted in all major Ontario newspapers and he has been interviewed on radio and television, including appearances on the CBC, Global and CTS television networks. He is also regularly involved in training HR professionals with regard to compliance with employment legislation and effective management of the workforce.
